It was bad enough that the bail-out for AIG got approved, now congress wants to single out these people for a 90% tax. How is that even legal? Who will be next? What if Congress decides that they don't like all the bonuses the oil companies hand out each year? Are they then going to target them with a 90% tax? This is outrageous! Worst still is the fact that Dana Rohrabacher voted for the tax! What's with that? How can Dana turn his back on Capitalism and Free Enterprise? I'm very disappointed.

OK, no reason to get snippy. I've been a strong supporter of yours for a long time. I'm very conservative and I quite frankly don't see it the same way. Maybe I don't have all the facts.Congress should be slapping their own hands for approving the stupid bail out to begin with. Congress knew the bonuses were there, in contract. Why didn't they make it part of the deal, no bonuses? Because it was in the contract? I don't see it as the "fat cat executives" ripping me off. I see congress ripping me off. Why doesn't congress demand ALL the money be returned? I certainly hope Congress has learned its lesson and won't pass any more bail outs! Capitalism is when well run businesses prosper and badly run businesses go bankrupt.

Mary, any company that takes bailout money from the taxpayers is no longer a private company and should not expect to give bonuses to the company executives that put the company in jeopardy in the first place. Whether it is accomplished through the tax system or any other method, bailout money used for bonuses should be returned to the taxpayers. Yes, if oil company executives are so incompetent that their companies end up getting a taxpayer bailout, and then they are so arrogant that they give huge bonuses to the executives who got them in trouble, the money should be taken from them and returned to the taxpayers. If you call letting fat cat executives rip off the tax payers capitalism, we've got different definitions of the word. I call it cronyism. I have a bill that says no bailout money for any company until all the bonuses given to their top executives are returned to the company. If you still disagree I suggest you send these bums your money directly. DANA
